iPhone 17 Pro Max

CUPERTINO, Calif. — Apple is gearing up to unveil its iPhone 17 Pro Max, alongside the iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Pro, and a new iPhone 17 Air, at a highly anticipated event on September 9, 2025, with the official release slated for Friday, September 19. The flagship Pro Max model, expected to start at $1,249, reflects a $50 price hike over its predecessor due to rising production costs and new U.S. tariffs on Chinese imports, according to Forbes. Pre-orders are set to begin on September 12, aligning with Apple’s traditional launch schedule.

The iPhone 17 Pro Max promises significant upgrades, positioning it as Apple’s most advanced smartphone yet. It will feature a 6.9-inch LTPO Super Retina XDR OLED display with a 120Hz ProMotion refresh rate and a new anti-reflective coating for better outdoor visibility. Under the hood, the A19 Pro chip, paired with 12GB of RAM, will drive performance, supported by a vapor chamber cooling system to handle intensive tasks like gaming and AI processing. The device is also rumored to house a 5,000mAh battery, the largest in iPhone history, offering extended usage.

Camera enhancements are a focal point, with the Pro Max boasting a triple 48MP rear camera system—main, ultra-wide, and telephoto with up to 8x optical zoom—alongside a 24MP front-facing camera for sharper selfies and 4K video calls. “The iPhone 17 Pro Max will set a new standard for mobile photography,” a source close to Apple told Geeky Gadgets, highlighting its 8K video recording capability and a mechanical aperture for adjustable depth-of-field control. Design-wise, the phone will sport an aluminum-glass hybrid frame in new colors, including dark blue and copper-orange, balancing durability and aesthetics.

The price increase, driven by tariffs and advanced components, has sparked debate. “Apple’s balancing innovation with cost pressures,” analyst Edison Lee noted to IBTimes UK. While carrier deals and trade-in programs may offset costs, the higher price tag targets premium users. As Apple’s September event nears, anticipation grows for a device that could redefine flagship smartphones.
